Jacqueline du Pre ∙ Live Concert Performances 1965-1969 ∙ 2CD

13.99

Jacqueline du Pré‘s exceptional talent and tragically abbreviated career due to multiple sclerosis left an indelible impression on the classical music world. Regarded as one of the foremost cellists of her time, she enraptured audiences with her eloquent musicality and commanding stage presence. However, her promising concert career was abruptly interrupted by the onset of illness while on tour in the United States. During a rehearsal of Johannes Brahms’ Double Concerto at New York’s Lincoln Center with Leonard Bernstein, she realized she could no longer manage the opening cadenza. Prior to her illness, she had been hailed as Britain’s preeminent string player. The live performances captured on this CD release were recorded during the peak of du Pré’s career.
